A COVID-19 exposure alert was issued for a recent football game in Moniteau County.
The Moniteau County Health Center issued the alert Wednesday for the Oct. 17 game at California College opposite Hallsville.
One of the California players who participated in the game tested positive for COVID-19.
Close contact with a positive case of COVID-19 is explained as being within 6 feet of a user who has COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more, offering attention with COVID-19, direct physical touch; sharing food or drinking or touching utensils with respiratory droplets, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
According to the National Federation of State Associations of Secondary Schools, football is classified as a high-risk game for COVID-19 transmission due to close and sustained contact between participants, lack of significant barriers and the highest likelihood of respiratory waste being transmitted among Participants.
The Missouri State High School Activities Association requests that all sports participants who have had contact with a poor health user be excluded from practice and play for 14 days.
The CDC recommends that contacts be tested for COVID-19.
Symptoms of COVID-19 may come with fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body pain, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea, according to the CDC.
