Patrik Schick scored four goals Saturday to help defending German champions Bayer Leverkusen hammer Freiburg 5-1.
The Czech forward broke the deadlock in injury time in the first half as he chipped the ball above the goalkeeper.
Teammate Florian Wirtz scored to double the lead in the 51st minute at home at BayArena.
Four minutes later, Freiburg’s Vincenzo Grifo scored to put the score back on the scoreboard.
Schick scored three more goals in the rest of the time, two with headers, and Leverkusen got a resounding victory over Freiburg.
Second-place Leverkusen boosted their points to 32 in 15 matches. They keep chase against league leaders Bayern Munich, which have 36 points after a 5-1 win Friday against RB Leipzig.
