Clemson’s No. 2 head coach, Dabo Swinney, gave the Buckeyes No. 3 Ohio State a lot of scores before the semi-finals of the school playoffs when it ranked 11th in the survey of its coaches.
Now Swinney wonders what it is.
Speaking to ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi in an interview Saturday, Swinney said the ratings were not private but were wanted to praise the groups for betting nine or more games (Garrett Stepien of 247Sports):
“They are obviously a wonderful team. They are smart and talented enough to beat us and smart enough to win the national championship. But in my opinion I don’t think it’s fair that they have to play 3 groups. thirteen games to win everything and a team has to play 8. In what universe do I live? And that has nothing to do with them. It’s about qualifying. And I don’t think they qualify, given the number of games, unlike all those other Array groups . . In my opinion – Texas A&M, Florida, Oklahoma, Cincinnati – they were punished for betting more games. “
The coach can continue to protect anything he wants, but unless Clemson blows up the state of Ohio on New Year’s Day, justifying his vote will put him in front of Buckeyes fans. The PSC rating was justified well in advance.
