Crocked Daizen Maeda appears to be on course for a quick recovery from injury for Celtic.
The striker was expected to miss the title race, with manager Brendan Rodgers revealing that Maeda had suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the clash with St Mirren. The Japanese flying machine missed the victory over the Buddies and the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. Unlike Aberdeen, who saw Celtic book their place in the Scottish Cup final thanks to a penalty shootout win.
But it is possible that Maeda now has compatibility for Hampden’s centrepiece and the race for the Scottish Premiership name after likely responding well to treatment. The 26-year-old has already recovered quickly from injury and was seen in the stands at the National Stadium in the clash with the Dons. Hoops boss Rodgers reportedly discussed Maeda’s compatibility and addressed a range of other topics in a Q&A session with Celtic enthusiasts on Wednesday night, hinting at a swift return for the striker.
While Celtic will be desperate to see the key player back, after playing a key role against Rangers in recent clashes, the timetable for his return is still unclear. He scored against Philippe Clement’s side in a 3-3 draw at Ibrox before going from behind. A serious hamstring injury.
