Hoffenheim had separated his tactics with Alfred Schreuder before the week, but, having begun seventh, they still had hopes of finishing in the top six. Christoph Baumgartner came close to rewarding the house team for a competitive start, but the Austrian failed right after a dizzying race in the area. The house team then thought there was a penalty when Munas Dabbur was the victim of a foul through Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, but a review by the VAR ruled that there was a foul in preparation. Hoffenheim then saw Leipzig score with his first attack, Olmo temporarily stabbed the house after being decided through Nordi Mukiele in the area. Two minutes later, the Spaniard added another after taking advantage of a clever headbutt by Marcel Sabitzer to shoot cunningly at Oliver Baumann on his first pole. Hoffenheim was unlucky when Dabbur left the longing 27 minutes before Gulacsi left Baumgartner, as Hoffenheim failed to beat him with one of his 12 goal attempts in the first half. Leipzig striker Timo Werner then shook his hand at hand with Baumann a minute before half-time.
Hoffenheim sent Robert Skov and more sensible scorer Andrej Kramaric part-time to make a difference, and Sebastian Rudy was temporarily rejected through Gulacsi as they continued to create possibilities. Angelino had an off-game ruled purpose at the other end, before Mukiele took the lead for visitors. Elm then lost a chance for his hat trick, and replacement Chris, the most sensitive Nkunku, hit the pole while the house team was still losing some chances. But Leipzig had done more than enough to double over Hoffenheim and strengthen his control over the third.
Olmo scored his first Bundesliga double. Only Bayern Munich (30), the league’s leading, have conceded fewer goals than Leipzig (32) this season. Hoffenheim was launched into the woods for the time being this season. Only Bayern Munich have hit the target more times (18). Leipzig manager Nagelsmann left Hoffenheim for Red Bull Arena last June after winning 44% of his matches with the Sinsheimers, a club record.
