Deandre Baker is still a giant, but he will play for the team again. He is on the commissioner’s exoneration list and faces armed robbery charges in Florida, and general manager Dave Gettleman has hinted that the team is waiting for the right time to cut ties.
When asked why the Giants had not yet done so with Baker, Gettleman referred to the “timely time.”
“It’s just. That’s a smart question,” said Gettleman, the New York Daily News.”All I can say about this is in life that it’s a moment. In life, there’s a moment. And that’s how I’m going to respond to that, okay?»
Gettleman would possibly have said the Giants were making sure they had all their ducks in a row so they can also cancel the guarantees of Baker’s contract, who played only one year of the $10.5 million guaranteed contract he signed with the Giants as the overall 30th selection.in last year’s NFL draft, and the Giants will likely argue that Baker’s moves violated his contract and allow the team to cancel their guarantees.
