REAL MADRID are facing injury hell after David Alaba suffered a terrifying setback on Sunday.
The teammates themselves with their heads in their hands after the Austrian defender sprained his knee in the 4-1 win over Villarreal.
Alaba’s leg appeared to deform and bend, prompting the centre-back to immediately call for medical help.
His friends at Real Madrid seemed distraught when Alaba got the treatment, and Jorge Picón said many had “their heads in their hands”.
Alaba then limped off the court unable to put weight on the problem leg.
And Carlo Ancelotti now faces a worried wait given the severity of Alaba’s setback.
Real Madrid already have goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and fellow defender Eder Militao this season.
Both suffered season-ending ACL injuries.
And Alaba will be out for the rest of the period if scans show he, too, has torn his cruciate ligament.
But with Vinicius Jr, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga also sidelined right now, Ancelotti will be praying for a miracle.
Alaba, 31, has been at Real since 2021 after losing to Bayern Munich.
Alaba scored five goals in 101 appearances for Los Blancos, winning one league and one Champions League.
Before Real, he scored 33 goals out of 431 for Bayern.
He praises TEN Bundesliga titles and two European crowns in Germany.
He is also Austria’s star player, making 105 international appearances and scoring 15 goals.
