The Spaniard surprised the leaders of Serie A when he took a dramatic U-turn to give up life in Rome and return to his local country.
This provoked a furious reaction from The lazio chief Igli Tare, who “had no respect for Silva as a man”.
The 34-year-old reportedly refused to pick up the phone when Lazio tried to call before accepting a two-year contract in San Sebastian.
In revealing why he chose Real Sociedad, Silva admitted that his circle of relatives had played a key role in his decision.
He told the club’s website: “I want to send a message to all the fans of the Real, I am very satisfied that I signed up for this wonderful club and I hope that we can win titles and celebrate them together.
“I’ve had a lot of offers, but I have to sign for the Real because it’s a club that does things really well and the taste for the game suits my game.
“I’ve known San Sebastian since I’ve been in Eibar for a long time, and it’s a lovely, quiet neighborhood, my circle of family members played a component in this decision.”
He added: “I’ve noticed a lot at LaLiga and it’s just that Real Sociedad played very well.
“I’ve heard some very references from the coach and I think you can accomplish things.
“We can play wonderful football, which to me is very important, is a lovely and exciting challenge.”
Silva’s father was forced to protect his son’s conduct in the transfer.
He told Radio Marca Donostia: “When Lazio was informed of the agreement with The Real Sociedad, it did not react badly, in the end nothing safe.
“There is contact with Lazio, but also with the Royal Society and other teams, and then my son made the decision to move to the Society.
“There was nothing closed, David was surprised by the reaction of the club. Everyone can do whatever they want, Lazio has spoken to his agent, not David.
“So I don’t understand why he was raised as a man, he didn’t do anything with lazio.”
The Pep Guardiola team has announced that it will erect a statue in his open-air honor of Etihad Stadium.
In addition to this, a box in the middle will also be named in his honor.
After signing for Valencia in 2010, Silva made 436 appearances and helped City win 14 trophies.
