A preview of what’s happening in the Champions League on Tuesday:
GROUP A
Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick said Serge Gnabry could return to the starting lineup opposite Lokomotiv Moscow after an absence attributed to a false positive result in a coronavirus test. Demolition 5-0 of Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Bayern lost in their last loss to the Champions League in Russia in 2016 in a wonderful 3–2 loss to Rostov. Atletico seeks to recover from the defeat to Bayern when they receive Salzburg, with Luis Suarez scoring his fourth goal of the season this weekend in the Spanish league.
GROUP B
Real Madrid are heading to Germany to face Borussia Mönchengladbach, who are due to start their Champions League crusade after a 3-2 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk. The last time Madrid faced Gladbach at home, they lost 5-1 in 1985. Milan with more team intensity than for their wonderful victory over Madrid last week, following the comeback of several players after isolation after an outbreak of coronavirus on the computer. Inter have scored a lot, some say too much, in the goals of Romelu Lukaku. Taison and midfielder Taras Stepanenko among those now available. Eden Hazard has recovered from an injury and could make his Madrid debut.
GROUP C
Despite opening the organization with a win over Porto last week, Manchester City played Marseille after a difficult entry into the Premier League, without winning three of their first five games, and City does not have a record goalscorer Sergio Aguero and teammate Gabriel Jesús. Fernandinho, Benjamin Mendy, Nathan Ake and Fernandinho were also left out. Despite his lack of confidence and goals, Dario Benedetto is expected to take off at the Velodrome against City. Benedetto has not scored for the 1993 European champions so far this season. , however, coach Andre Villas-Boas has only a few features for ninth place. Liverpool show they can do without Virgil van Dijk, for now, as the Premier League champions host Danish club Midtjylland after a close win over Ajax and Sheffield United last week without their central defender, who calls for knee surgery and faces several months. Midfielder Fabinho has been tasked with replacing the Dutchman as a winger alongside Joe Gómez. The setting at Anfield saw the six-time European champion host a club that was founded in 1999 and made its first appearance in the Champions League. Atalanta, last season’s wonderful quarter-finals, host Ajax, a wonderful semi-finalist two seasons ago. This is the first Champions League game in Bergamo for Atalanta, who played at San Siro in Milan last season while their Gewiss stadium was being renovated, but no fans will be allowed in.
