Kevin De Bruyne hopes to crown David Silva’s 10th birthday at Manchester City by completing the Spaniard’s medal streak with a Champions League win next month.
Silva has won 4 Premier League titles of 11 primary trophies since joining City in 2010, such as the World Cup and two European Overseas Championships with Spain.
The 34-year-old midfielder has never tasted the glory of the Champions League and still has one last with Pep Guardiola’s men, his contract expiring at the end of the season.
City will resume on 7 August their home crusade against Real Madrid, with a 2–1 lead in the first leg of their last matches, and the winners will advance to the quarter-finals, which will take up position in an impartial place. Lisbon.
De Bruyne scored twice in Silva’s last Premier League game when City beat Norwich 5-0 on Sunday and described his midfield spouse as one of the players who always honored England’s play.
“For me he is one of the players who has ever played in the Premier League,” the Belgian midfielder said.
“You can debate who he is (number one), but when you play with him, you can appreciate what he does day in and day out. I played with him for five years, a long time.
“We won a lot together, we played well together. We complement others very well in other ways.
“And he’s a wonderful guy too. He’s going to be a big loser. It would be wonderful if we could win the Champions League so it would end well for him.”
City has scored 4 or more goals in six of their 12 games since the restart of English football last month and De Bruyne hopes to take that form to the big stage, with the prospect of having to beat Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich or Barcelona, and then El Paris Saint-German despite all winning the Champions League.
“Now we have two weeks to fully prepare and we have an end.
“We need to prepare as productively as possible to be in a position for this game and we look forward to playing 4 more games this year.”
