Dean Henderson signed a new contract with Manchester United on Thursday, extending his tenure until June 2025, the club announced.
“Manchester United is very happy to announce that Dean Henderson has signed a new contract, which will keep him at the club until June 2025, with the option of extending it for a year,” the club said in a statement.
Henderson has been a product of the Manchester United Academy and has been at the club since he was 14. The goalkeeper, who spent the 2019–2020 season with Sheffield United, kept thirteen blanks in the Premier League last season, the third-highest in the division, and nominated for the Premier League Young Player season award.
“The path I’ve taken over the last five years has been my progression and the valuable lending era in Sheffield United is one of them,” Henderson told the club’s official website.
A long-term #MUFC update through Dean Henderson
“The porter branch of United is excellent; there are 3 more sensible goalkeepers who have completed both in the game and I look forward to running with the group. The confidence that the coach and the club have shown in me with this contract means a lot to me and I will follow my progression as a goalkeeper,” he added.
Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “We are very pleased that Dean signed his new contract. He had another perfect season at Sheffield United, where he gained a lot of joy and grew up as a player and as a person. . Dean is a young goalkeeper with the attitude and speed of the pictures to keep improving every day.”
However, Manchester United made some deal in the existing movement window. The club’s attempt to signal Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho has failed and no new moves have been announced recently.
A report by a Spanish SPORT says Manchester United, among other clubs, has started negotiations to signal Lionel Messi, who lately is not in the most productive situations with his Barcelona club and needs to leave immediately.
So this is where the for Sancho will be used? Only time will tell.
