Dean Henderson takes the opportunity to face David De Gea for Manchester United’s number one goalkeeper next season.
The Englishman signed a five-year contract with United this week, ending the hypothesis about his long term after consecutive loan periods at Sheffield United.
Chelsea had been linked to a move to Henderson, however the 23-year-old will now compete with Longtime United No. 1 De Gea for a spot.
“Yes, I’m way ahead of schedule and I know them well,” Henderson told the club’s website.
“David De Gea had a career at the football club and it wasn’t long before I said, if I could reflect this race one day, I’d be a very proud man.
“So learning from him and the other two more productive goalkeepers on the branch would be great. I’m looking ahead. “
Henderson has yet to make his deyet for United, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees the plug as his number one long-term.
De Gea has suffered a severe drop in form over the past 18 months and Henderson may be given a career in appearance faster than later.
“It would mean the global to me,” Henderson said of his senior debut.
“All I’ve done is put myself in a position to do it. I worked very the scenes and had to pass other tactics to get where I need to be today.
“I’m sitting here now, thinking about the next step and, of course, that Man United’s debut would be something I’d be very proud of and something I’d never, ever, if that happens, when that happens.
“I’ve been looking to win trophies with this wonderful football club and I’m a very ambitious young man.
“For me, coming here and getting it is winning titles with the biggest club in the world. I hope I can do it again soon. “
