Dejan Lovren has completed his 10.9 million pound transfer from Liverpool to Zenit St Petersburg on a three-year contract. The Croatian left Anfield as Premier League, European and World Cup champions after six seasons and 185 club appearances.
Lovren moves to the Russian giants, who have won the Double this season, with the guarantee of more game time. He signed from Southampton in 2014 for 20 million pounds, the 32-year-old nearly left Liverpool last summer, but Jurgen Klopp convinced him to stay and offer a full defence.
“He played some wonderful matches and scored one of the greatest vital goals in our history in 4-3 against Borussia Dortmund; a glorious moment of fact to share,” Klopp said of Lovren. “He’s had so many smart games. Yes, I don’t think he’s going to like the Tottenham game [October 2017] when I took it out in the first half, but it’s a component of football and progression, and he’s back.

“When I was fit, I was very, very, very on the team. A wonderful player and a wonderful person.
Lovren made only 15 appearances for Liverpool in 2019-20, partly due to his injury bout, as well as performances by top seeds Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, with Joel Matip the first to update him. for the club in the goalless draw against Everton on 21 June.
“In the first component of the season, until he was injured, he was on the team and had some wonderful games. Absolutely wonderful games,” Klopp said. “Really well, in the air a machine, and I enjoyed running with it. It will be attractive to continue with Zenit St. Petersburg now.
