Liverpool’s formerdefensa, Dejan Lovren, has subsidized Mohamed Salah to remain at the club despite rumours linking him to an Anfield outing.
Speculation linking the Egyptian to a move to Bayern Munich was stoked through CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge this week, who said it would be an “honour” if Salah joined the Bavarians, while the 28-year-old himself suggested his preference to play. Barcelona or Real Madrid.
But Lovren, who remains friends with his former teammate despite his move to Zenit St. Petersburg, believes Salah can even see his career with Liverpool.
“I’m in communication with Mo Salah,” Lovren told talkSPORT on Thursday.
“We are more productive friends, even outside of football, and we communicate above all.
“Individually, when you look at the number of goals he’s scored, he’s doing well right now.
“Mo is at the age of his football career at the age of 28.
“Maybe he seems a little older, but he’s more sensible in his game, so why not stay four, five, six more years?”
Lovren left Liverpool this summer in search of more normal first-team football after being sent back to the fourth choice of centre defence, he would still have been provided this season if he had stayed due to the club’s injury crisis in defence.
As for whether he could have done a task for Liverpool this season, Lovren added: “Yes, of course I can do my homework, but as I said, do I regret anything? No, I’m not.
“I was there for six years and for four and a half years I had a great time, but for a year and part was not a good time.
“Did they use me as much as I wanted?” No, but I accepted it. I don’t regret leaving because I play every week and now I’m a captain, so it’s completely different. “
