Emmanuel Dennis hopes to motivate Belgian club Brugge to victory over Zenit St. Petersburg when they meet in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
The Super Eagles striker has shone at Europe’s most sensible festival in the past, scoring impressive goals at the festival.
His most memorable performance in the tournament against LaLiga giants Real Madrid last season, when he scored a brace at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The striker’s performances aroused the interest of several European clubs, but without a concrete offer on the table, he continued his stay at the Jan Breydel Stadium.
Dennis has played six games in Begio’s First Division in the existing crusade and assisted in his team’s last outing against Standard Liège to help them avoid defeat.
The 22-year-old hopes to put on an eye-catching display against the Russian club at the Gazprom Arena on Tuesday night.
“I score against the big teams,” Dennis told Belgian magazine Het Nieuwsblad.
Club Bugge will be without their most productive striker, Michael Krmencik, and Dennis, who has played primarily as a winger in his team, is in a position to play for the club as a centre forward in their quest to secure victory.
“I can play there if I have to. But I’m a striker. Put this in big print above your interview. I’m a band player,” he added.
Dennis has been at Jan Breydel Stadium since the summer of 2017 when he joined Ukrainian club Zorya Luhansk.
The striker has scored more than 21 goals in all competitions with the blue and white, adding his nine moves last season to help the league champions.
Dennis hopes to continue his impressive performances for his club and increase his chances of being called up to the Super Eagles team.
The striker has two appearances for the three-time African champion since making his debut against Ukraine in September 2019.
