According to Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma is expected to re-sign Chris Smalling of Manchester United in the coming hours.
Gazzetta reports that Paulo Fonseca’s team is unwilling to offer more than 15 million euros for the central defense, which would make their total spending on Smalling 18 million euros taking into account last season’s 3 million euro loan prices.
It is claimed that the Serie A team understands how complicated it will be to conclude this agreement, but the Giallorossi make one last due to calls from technician Fonseca.
Gazzetta says Roma will offer to take the advocate off on loan for the season, but the deal will come with the team’s legal responsibility to make the move permanent.
Roma need the scenario to be resolved in the coming days, otherwise they will pursue other objectives, Gazzetta says that the team will not offer more than 15 million euros because Smalling will turn 31 in November.
As one of the most notable Defenders of Serie A last season, England’s former foreigner seemed absolutely rejuvenated with 37 matches with Rome.
The 6-foot 4-inch ace also showed the contribution you can make in the last third with air risk by scoring 3 times and offering two assists to the Giallorossi.
Gazzetta adds that Rome will face a festival for the ace, which needs to return to the Italian capital after a glorious stay, from rival Inter Milan.
Inter sees Smalling as a possible replacement for Milan Skriniar, with the Spurs looking at the Slovak central defence, Nerazzurri’s offer would be a loan with a permanent, mandatory option.
Roma would do well to bring Smalling back with his fully visual defensive disorders in their first two Serie A matches of the season, a 3-0 loss to Hellas Verona and a 2–2 draw with Juventus.
Smalling, obviously, is not part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for Manchester United, do the Red Devils settle for Rome’s imminent offer by the defender to deposit cash before the deadline?
