Noah Okafor looked set to fly to Germany and join RB Leipzig in an initial loan deal, but the deal has lately been on hold.
It was reported by Fabrizio Romano among others earlier in the week that Milan and Leipzig have agreed a loan deal for Okafor, with an option to buy that is set at €25-28m. The player was expected to do his medical and sign the contract on Friday.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Okafor-Leipzig agreement “seemed destined for a positive conclusion”, but is currently blocked. The Bundesliga club is no longer entirely convinced that the operation will take place and, in the meantime, is also comparing other profiles.
It remains to be seen whether the situation will be resolved in the coming days. Live on Sky (via MilanNews), Di Marzio added: “Problems for Okafor in Leipzig, with the player still a bit injured: Leipzig didn’t press more and the operation is a bit blocked. “
Arriving in Italy in the summer of 2023 from Red Bull Salzburg, it appears the Swiss striker is no longer a major component of the plans given the Rossoneri’s preference to leave. No additional information is given about his new injury.
