Tottenham have agreed a £65m deal with Bournemouth for striker Dominic Solanke, who has now completed his medical.
The deal will see Spurs pay a down payment of £55m, with £10m imaginable to meet in bonuses. Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has focused on the midfield striker’s intensity this summer.
He will sign a six-year contract and is expected to be at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday for a pre-season friendly with Bayern Munich.
In the match, former target player and Spurs captain Harry Kane will return to the club for the first time, along with Eric Dier.
Sky Sports News also understands that Solanke, 26, had a £65million clause in his contract if a Premier League club came to upgrade him.
Liverpool could pocket £10m in extra move budget if Spurs secure Solanke’s signature via a sell-on clause. He played 27 times for the Reds in the 2017/18 campaign.
Solanke, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, missed Bournemouth’s pre-season friendly against Rayo Vallecano last weekend due to a foot injury.
Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this week, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola described Solanke as his key player.
“It’s obvious that Dom is the top player for us. But the numbers are there,” he said.
“It’s just about goals, he helps us a lot in the preparation, in the press. It doesn’t have any major weaknesses for us, it makes us a much bigger team.
“I feel that he is satisfied here. We can’t do everything, we don’t know how the market is going to end but whatever happens, he is a very sensible professional. “
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou highlighted the need for a centre-forward option when he told Football. london: “You know, we play in a safe way. We ask for safe things from a physical point of view, from a technical point of view, whether it is a striker who adapts to that mould.
“It’s still the ballpark domain where we’re probably thinner when I speak from a team standpoint at the moment, so it’s obviously a precedent for us. “
