Dominik Szoboszlai helped Arne Slot get off to the ideal start as Liverpool manager by beating Ipswich Town.
Liverpool won their Premier League opener 2-0 at Portman Road, with Virgil van Dijk and Luis Diaz inspired by Szoboszlai.
The Hungarian played the full 90 minutes for Slot against the newly promoted club, but Szoboszlai ordered his efforts to be stepped up.
Szoboszlai positioned himself in midfield with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch, while forwards Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah found the back of the net.
The 3 midfielders played the entire match as visitors, and Slot replaced 3 of their defenders for 4 matches.
Liverpool fans were able to get a glimpse of the brain of their new coach, who had already inspired them in pre-season.
But what mattered was going to Ipswich, and star midfielder Szoboszlai now reveals what his manager asked of him in midfield.

“Well, we played around a bit because we played with one number 6 and two number 8s, and one of the number 8s fit the number 6,” Szoboszlai told Liverpool’s website.
“Now we were playing with number 6, number 8 and number 10, and I had the role of number 10. But I can let it go, I can stay. It’s just different.
“I think I have more offensive paints with the ball, but I still have to do my job with the ball, like last season. “
Dominik Szoboszlai moved to Anfield from RB Leipzig last summer as part of the Merseyside club’s main midfield rebuild.
And he slotted effortlessly into Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI, with the midfielder an instant hit in England.

But his importance in the team has gradually faded, and this time Szoboszlai has reached his point of functionality.
He is competing with a lot of talented players for a starting spot with Slot, which will be more difficult if a new midfielder is brought in.
For now, however, Szoboszlai appears to top Slot’s midfielder list, especially after the failed signing of Martin Zubimendi.
