Manchester United have announced donny van de Beek’s signature on a 40 million pound deal with Ajax.
The 23-year-old midfielder was the Red Devils’ first summer signing, which agreed to a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
“I can’t start thinking about the incredible opportunity of signing for a club with such an incredible history,” Van de Beek said on The United website.
“I need to thank everyone at Ajax.I grew up there and I’ll have a special connection to the club.
“Now I am in a position to take the next step in my career and carry it out at the highest point and there is no more popular than Manchester United.”
The Dutch foreigner will be remembered at Ajax, where he went through the youth formula and played a leading role in the club’s race to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
And the club shared a brilliant tribute video to say goodbye to the midfielder on social media.

The video features excerpts from Van de Beek’s stay at Ajax, the midfielder talking to his father on the phone in voiceover.

Van de Beek admitted that he is “anxious” to be part of Manchester United’s configuration, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“Everyone has told me how wonderful the Old Trafford environment is and I can’t wait to revel in that, once enthusiasts can safely return,” he added.
“This team has some of the midfielders in the world and I know that I can be informed of them and also contribute my own strengths to the group.
“After talking to the coach about his vision for this team, the direction the club is headed in is incredibly exciting and I look forward to being one of them.
