The Philadelphia Eagles will miss the playoffs for the first time in four years after falling 37-17 to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, dropping their record to 4-10-1 and keeping them in last place in the NFC East.
On Monday, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said he was “totally certain” that he would be back next season despite his team’s difficulties. He spoke to Angelo Cataldi and the morning team at SportsRadio 94WIP about this notion:
“I feel completely confident that I will be the head coach of the Eagles in 2021. What I’m most proud of about this football team: I’ve been in the playoffs 3 of the last five years since I’ve been here, and that’s nice, won a championship here.
“We’ve had a season when many of our veterans don’t play due to injuries. We play with a lot of young players. There will be an evaluation during the off-season, and my paintings are also evaluated. I was hoping to be the coach next season, and I look to the opportunity to get it right, take a look at it and take this team to the next season. “
Pederson is completing his fifth season at the helm of the Eagles and leading Philadelphia to the name of the Super Bowl franchise in February 2018 after a 41-33 win over the New England Patriots.
The Eagles played in the playoffs three times with Pederson, who propelled the team to a regular-season record of 42-36-1.
