Coach Ron Rivera reported that both Haskins and Kyle Allen would have started this pre-season if the games had been cancelled, Kyle Stackpole reports from the Washington football team’s website.
Rivera said it would have been Haskins in the first pre-season game, followed by Allen in the game at the moment. Of course, there is no calendar of exhibitions in 2020, and groups move from education to normal season. It has been speculated that the scenario favors Allen and his familiarity with OC Scott Turner, however, it is Haskins who gives genuine merit to a long-term entrepreneur. Then there’s the consultation of Alex Smith, who was activated from the puppy list on Sunday and may eventually emerge as an option to take shots under the center. Whoever starts Week 1, Haskins is the favorite, no doubt looking over his shoulder if he struggles at the start of the season.
