EA College Football 25 Releases Huge New Title Update

On Thursday, EA released a major update for College Football 25. The new name update adds 718 new NIL players to the game, affects gameplay, UI, Dynasty, and Ultimate Team, and adds an entirely new layer to Team Builder Adobe Express. Formation

Here are EA’s main points and my reactions to some of the changes. EA blog updates are in italics.

The most important game factor I found was the lack of integrity of the zone in defense. There were times where I felt like I couldn’t accept that my AI safeties were in the right position to take down deep center shots.

Hopefully, this update that addresses Cover 2 (my base alignment) will improve the performance on that end.

Besides the limitations to player editing, I’ve been in a good place with the Dynasty experience. The recruiting is fun and engaging, but it is still good to see updates to small things under the hood.

Ultimate Team hasn’t grabbed me for College Football 25. However, most of these updates appear to be cosmetic or minor changes to quality-of-life tweaks instead of significant impacts.

I have played two careers in RTG, and I feel deprived that I’ve never seen the “rogue pickup basketball scenario” mentioned here. That probably would’ve been fun.

Here’s where a good amount of the meat is for the most recent title update. We have a new stadium, ratings adjustments for players and teams, 718 new players, and various changes to team uniforms.

The new player updates have Boise State superstar Ashton Jeanty leaping to 97 overall as he streaks toward a possible Heisman Trophy.

Since its release, EA College Football 25 has been primarily built around accurate and, to the extent possible, representation of the players. The updates have added to this concept.

However, I wish it was less difficult to see exactly which players have been promoted and demoted. It’s a bit tricky to locate the information.

It’s wonderful to see EA customize uniforms for your school. The new layer powered by Adobe offers “500,000 royalty-free Adobe Stock photographs, 290,000 icons, 44,000 layouts, addition of shapes, illustrations, brushes, textures, frames, and more,” according to an additional report provided via EA.

While this adds density to the already physically powerful creation suite, it doesn’t close the hole users still have when it comes to limited edition features for players of the game. Hopefully, College Football’s Team Builder edition will one day work like Madden 25’s.
