Leeds United football director Victor Orta played a key role in orchestrating the club’s politics after arriving at Elland Road in May 2017.
Orta called himself as coach of Real Valladolid before joining the hiring of Seville, Zenit St. Petersburg, Elche and Middlesbrough.
He worked hard with former businessmen Thomas Christiansen and Paul Heckingbottom in their first season with the whites, when he set up a subsidiary and a network of watchers who decimated Massimo Cellino’s time at the club.
The culmination of Orta’s paintings began to amaze after the arrival of Marcelo Bielsa in June 2018.
Leeds’ recruitment strategy after his return to the Premier League has been eye-catching, with Orta spending 96 million pounds on new players.
With this in mind, we took a look at the summer 2020 between its previous movement windows.
SUMMER 2017-2018 – TOTAL EXPENSES 15. 9 MILLION EUROS
Orta has worked on a multitude of agreements to increase Christiansen’s team’s chances of breaking his promotion hoodoo before the 2017–18 championship season.
Pontus Jansson’s permanent arrival in Turin, the signing of the big name, the Swedish foreigner made 120 appearances in all competitions before joining Brentford last summer.
Mateusz Klich has secured a discreet contract with FC Twente for 2. 2 million pounds and the Polish foreigner has one of Bielsa’s top trusted stars, betting 90 of Leeds’ 92 games in more than two seasons.
Chris Wood’s departure at Burnley began on Elland Road, in a 15 million pound deal, but New Zealand’s foreigner will never remain in the league after scoring 27 goals in 2016-17. 7/10
2017-18 JANUARY – TOTAL EXPENSES OF 9. 7 MILLION EUROS
With Leeds conveniently located in the play-off areas, Orta received financial support to enter the January movement market to ensure some key goals.
Adam Forshaw, Tyler Roberts and Laurens De Bock reached a combined total of 8. 5 million pounds.
Forshaw played at the time of 2017-18 and bass Bielsa in 2018-19, but has been offside due to injury since September 2019.
Roberts is a favorite of Bielsa, Wales’ foreigner played a rotating role last season, but De Bock has failed firmly in his time at the club.
SUMMER 2018-2019 – TOTAL EXPENSES 10. 1 MILLION EUROS
Orta and Bielsa worked in a pragmatic movement before the Argentine’s first season at the club.
Despite spending just over 10 million pounds for Barry Douglas and Patrick Bamford combined, Bielsa aimed to secure players he could compare with without being connected in his first few months.
Jamal Blackman and Izzy Brown came on loan from Chelsea and Jack Harrison for Manchester City, but the latter was the only one to have a genuine effect with 41 league appearances in 2018-19.
Douglas scored well as a left-back, in rotation with Gaetano Berardi, and despite Leeds’ rise last season, Bamford scored only 10 league goals in his first season.
JANUARY 2018-19 – TOTAL EXPENSE 90,000
Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla relies on a loose play by Real Madrid after falling absolutely into discontent at Santiago Bernabéu.
Bielsa made an ambitious call to install the Spaniard as his number one for the season finale, replacing Bailey Peacock-Farrell, while Leeds fell into the play-off semi-final.
Mateusz Bogusz has also arrived on a 90. 00 euro contract from Polish club Ruch Chorsow, but remains one in the long run and will spend the current season on loan in Spain.
SUMMER 2019-2020 – TOTAL ZERO EXPENSE
Although the promotion was almost lost at the end of 2018-19, Orta made the decision not to let the club finish beyond its means last summer.
With tension expanding to ensure a long-awaited return to the Premier League, he resisted the temptation to oversize and was given another group of lenders to bring the promotion to life.
Jack Harrison returned from City and played a key role in winning the league name with compatriot Helder Costa, providing a risk of choice on the opposing flank.
Harrison and Costa proved essential in the taste for Bielsa’s game last season, however, the biggest impact came through Ben White, who arrived without much fanfare and would become one of the league’s most productive defenders. The Brighton player will be considered one of Orta’s most productive signings to date and has demonstrated his ability to locate the precise goals Bielsa wants.
2019-20 JANUARY – TOTAL ZERO SPENDING
Bielsa and Orta sought to find a balance in the January 2019-2020 market, with whites leading the way in the most sensitive of the table.
RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin came on loan to buy a deal with Orta, who already had an eye on the Premier League by 2020-2021.
But it came with a reputation for wreaking havoc on opposition defenses, the motion failed when injuries and a massive drop in form saw it slightly and Leeds nevertheless got rid of the cap of his purchase option, albeit in questionable legal circumstances. . 3 / 10
TOTAL SPENDING SUMMER 2020-21 MILLION EUROS
After securing a promotion in the past, Orta demonstrated that the club would pursue goals to make sure it would be competitive in the Premier League.
With Harrison, Costa and Illan Meslier all gambling loan roles in 2019-20, Orta activated acquisition clauses in the last two and brought Harrison back for a third loan period.
