EA’s tribute to Diego Maradona: how to play Argentine legend in FIFA 21

Diego Maradona, considered one of the most productive professional footballers in the world, died last month in Tigre, Argentina. His death was felt all over the world, with several of the most sensitive players in his sport paying tribute to him, in addition to Lionel Messi and Pelé. ESPN FC’s Twitter page also showed that Burj Khalifa’s lighting fixtures in the sunset sky with a tribute to Maradona with a legend that read “Touch the Sky” followed through a sky blue center that reflected the color of his team, S. S. C. Naples.

Maradona’s death at age 60 also allowed many his specific genius with football, his numbers and his record confirm him: 259 career goals in more than 20 years of club play, 34 goals in 91 games with the Argentine national team and nine goals in the World Cup.

The centenary debate about who will be the best, Maradona or Pelé, will continue and Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s duo recently gave their own ideas: “He’s leaving us but he’s not going anywhere, because Diego is eternal,” Messi said. For his part, Pelé feels nothing yet for the loss of what he calls an expensive friend. “One day, I hope, we’ll play football in combination in the sky,” the Brazilian star said.

What remains forever in the minds of football fans is its functionality at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, which was marred by controversy: in his team’s quarter-final match against England, he scored a goal with the use of his hand, a gesture that would result in a yellow card, but was allowed because referees did not have a transparent view of the game (Maradona would then describe this purpose as scored with “God’s hand”). Maradona and the Argentine team will continue to win against West Germany in the final.

Diego Maradona is also one of the stars of FIFA 21 and has been included in recent versions as player Icon alongside Pelé, Johan Cruyff and Lev Yashin.

After the legend’s death, EA Sports paid tribute by giving away a Maradona title in FIFA 21, while its Icon card also skyrocketed into the FIFA Ultimate Team movement market as the number of other people who wanted to play with it skyrocketed.

Maradona’s legacy can be felt and noticed in many media bureaucracies, adding in this year’s FIFA match. Even if you can’t buy the legend in the game’s Ultimate Team mode, its cards cost between 2 and 3 million coins, there are still tactics to come with the legend on your list.

After Maradona’s death, EA Sports added a new home screen to FIFA 21 with the legend “Thank you Diego” as well as a poignant message. Each FIFA Ultimate Team player also won a loose eulogy for a home and visitor jersey from Maradona Tifo and Argentina.

You can get those pieces by simply logging into the game on your console or by opening the Internet app or companion app. They will be automatically added as non-exchangeable parts in your inventory. To use the Maradona Tifo in-game, switch to the Stadium Segment by keeping the joystick up in the menu. Go to the Crowds segment and you can assign tiphos to other segments of your stadium.

For those who still need the game to honor their favorite football icon, they can get the game for all major consoles, adding PS4, PS5, XBOX Series X, XBOX One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
