Developer Minas Michaelian needs to build an 86-unit retirement apartment complex on thirteen acres in Eastport where, nearly a decade ago, local government toppled a mixed-use progression project, according to Southampton Press.
Michaelian has developed two communities over the age of 55 on Long Island and has also built a shopping park at Moriches Centre. Its new proposal covers 11 two-story buildings, as well as a pavilion, recreation spaces and a car park.
The progression is in the City of Brookhaven and requires the Brookhaven City Council to approve a zoning change. The council tore down a 75,000-square-foot advertising complex by 2011. [Southampton Press] – Dennis Lynch
