Emi Buendia joins Bayer Leverkusen on loan and a new Aston Villa contract

Bayer Leverkusen signing the loan of Emi Buendia d’Aston Villa.

Athletics reported on Sunday that Buendia had agreed a new contract with Villa that would keep him at the club until 2027, and the club announced his extension by confirming his temporary departure for the Bundesliga champions. The existing terms were due to expire in 2026.

Bufinishia, 28, finished his medical with Leverkusen on Tuesday before joining a deal until the end of the season with a buyout option.

Leverkusen is on the market to update Martin Terrier, who is out for the rest of the season after shaking his Achilles tendon.

Buendia joined Villa de Norwich City in 2021 in an agreement of more than 30 million (now $ 37. 3 million) and has made 97 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.

After returning from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury suffered last term, Buendia has featured 20 times in all competitions this season but has largely been utilised as a substitute.

Leverkusen is the moment in the Bundesliga and the bays of Bayern Munich through six points.

Buendia’s loan move came on the same day that Louie Barry, who returned to Villa Park from a loan spell at Stockport County earlier this month, has joined Championship side Hull City on a loan deal for the remainder of 2024-25.
