NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Chelsea manager Emma Hayes gave the impression of pushing her Arsenal counterpart Jonas Eidevall after Sunday’s Women’s League Cup defeat, accusing him of looking “aggressive masculine” on the touchline.

The Gunners made it back-to-back cup wins and their seventh overall at Molineux thanks to Stina Blackstenius scoring a spectacular winner in extra time after 116 minutes.

After the final whistle, Eidevall approached Hayes as she entered the field, but it looked like the Blues boss had torn her apart.

Hayes, disgruntled, said after the game that she was disappointed with Eidevall’s habit of staying out of the game.

“I think there’s a way to behave on the pitch and it’s not the first time. I’ve been in women’s football for a long time and I don’t think we tolerate male aggression like we do today,” she said. BBC Sport .

“Confronting or confronting a player is anything unacceptable. “I’ve never been cautioned in 12 years of my career, but I think there’s a way to behave on the sidelines. He got a yellow card, but he may have received more.

Eidevall, for his part, warned that the dispute over the use of a multiball formula in the game.

“Not much,” says Eidevall. We had a pre-match discussion where either group has to agree on whether they will play with a multi-ball formula or not.

“Chelsea said they wanted to play with a ball and we said we wanted to play with balls, then when it suits them in the final minutes of the game, they need to take another ball to make a quick throw-in and I just said ‘you were looking to play with one ball’.

“So it’s not my problem. I think it’s all good, it’s just in the heat of the moment.

Hayes will leave Chelsea at the end of the season after 12 trophy-laden years in west London, winning six FA WSL titles, women’s FA Cups, two FA Women’s League Cups, an FA Women’s Spring Series trophy and an FA Women’s Community Shield.

Sunday’s loss to Arsenal ended their hopes of winning a quadruple in Hayes’ final season at the helm.

At the end of general time, play was halted after Arsenal midfielder Frida Maanum collapsed on the pitch. Play was halted for seven minutes as she gained oxygen and stretched off the field. Soon after, Arsenal showed that the Norwegian was “conscious and stable”.
