Jadon Sancho travelled with Borussia Dortmund to their pre-season education camp on Monday, the day the Bundesliga club’s deadline for the imaginable move from the English winger to Manchester United expired, and the Germans revealed that they had a higher salary.
“We are making plans with Jadon, he will play for Borussia Dortmund next season. The resolution is final,” said sporting director Michael Zorc in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland.
Zorc also revealed that he had higher undisclosed salary for Sancho, who last year signed a contract extension until June 2023.
The 20-year-old is one of the brightest in Europe and Dortmund, who finished moment in the Bundesliga last season, had slapped him with a prize of 120 million euros ($140 million).
British media reported last week that United was about to point to the star.
Reports of a change to United have become common over the weekend after Sancho saw him at a party in London before returning to Dortmund.
In an interview last week, Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke moved from Sancho once he started his week-long camp in Switzerland.
On Monday, Zorc refused to talk about whether Dortmund had had talks with Manchester United about Sancho.
“If there were discussions and how they were carried out, I probably wouldn’t say,” Zorc added.
Premier League champions Liverpool signed Greek defence Kostas Tsimikas on Monday for 11.7 million pounds ($15 million).
Tsimikas has signed a five-year contract with Liverpool and will upgrade to left-back Andy Robertson at Anfield.
Welcome to Liverpool, Kostas Tsimikas! ?✍️
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp replaced the 24-year-old after opting not to pay Norwich’s left-back for Northern Ireland’s left-back, Jamal Lewis.
Tsimikas is the first signing of Liverpool’s tight season and he told the club’s website: “I am very happy, I am very proud to be here. For me, (it’s) the club in the world.
“The league here, I really like it. I see it on TV and ever since I was a kid I dreamed of coming to play in this league.
“(I want) (our) goals. Recover the League and also the Champions League.
Tsimikas, 3 times through Greece, played 86 games for Olympiakos in all competitions and was also on loan with Danish club Esbjerg and Dutch team Willem II.
He played 27 times in the league last season, earning the first honor in his career primaries when Olympiakos won the Greek title.
“We have been watching Kostas for a long time and we are pleased that he has joined us.It’s the best news before we meet again very soon,” Klopp said.
“He’s a very smart footballer with a win-win attitude, and I like his mindset. This fits perfectly with the environment and the preference we already have in our wardrobe.”
“Kostas knows, thanks to his non-public delight, what it takes to challenge and succeed at the national level and in the Champions League, and he aspires more, just like us.”
