Europa League: Solksjaer United will be more ‘clinical’ for goal

Dubai: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was looking for his boys to be “more decisive and efficient” in terms of determination following his narrow 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the Europa League quarter-finals.

In Europe’s quarter-finals on Monday night, Inter Milan claimed a 2–1 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

United needed a penalty from Bruno Fernandes in the 95th minute to beat a well-organized Copenhagen, whose goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnson made thirteen tackles in the match.

“We had to be disciplined, we had to be patient and in the end that patience worked for us. We created enough to win the game,” Solksjaer said in Uefa.com at the end of the game.

“We arrived at the post several times and were unlucky with some VAR (critical). It was the right decisions, but we may have been better over time in our careers and everything,” he added.

Solksjaer also admitted that players are confused by not being more ruthless in front of the goal. However, he also congratulated the rival goalkeeper, who had one of the most productive nights of his career.

“We want to do it in many ways. But if you create as many opportunities as we did today, we’d like to be more clinical and effective and score when we have them,” the Norwegian said.

“Even though we created some fantastic opportunities, it looked like the guys were looking to get the ball over the line. But there are still defenders and a goalkeeper, who today was probably the man of the party.

Manchester United, who won the trophy in 2017, will then face Wolverhampton Wanderers or Sevilla in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte said he was “really satisfied” with his club’s “excellent performance” against Bayer Leverkusen.

“Everyone is satisfied because we did a wonderful performance. We prepare well for the game and control to prevent Bayer Leverkusen from playing. Also, while we were in possession, we implemented what we had been executing,” Conte said on the club’s official website.

“We may have simply passed in a more comfortable way because, even though we never had to dig, the result was close. However, I can only congratulate the boys because they sought to show that we are worn out.” I had a wonderful season,” he added.

Nicolo Barella scored the first goal of the game in the minute, giving Inter Milan a one-way lead.

With Romelu Lukaku doubling the lead, Romelu Lukaku scored a brilliant goal in the 21st minute. However, three minutes later, Bayer Leverkusen controlled the deficit while Kai Havertz scored a goal, putting the score at 2–1.

Conte said they should now start thinking about their next game and “aim to the max.”

“Now we have the possibility to play a European semi-final and we deserve to be satisfied with that. From there we have to start thinking about our next game, because we have to aim to the maximum without having any regrets,” he added. Said.

In the semi-finals, Inter Milan will face FC Basel or Shakhtar Donetsk on 18 August.
