Everton Football Club was “heartbroken” by the death today of an employee following an incident in the structure of the new stadium.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said it was aware of the tragedy and police said officials were in the “early stages” of an investigation. All work on the site is suspended until further notice.
Emergency services were called to the site of the Bramley-Moore pier structure in Vauxhall, Liverpool, at around 1:00 p. m. m. of Monday. A 26-year-old man was injured and taken to hospital but later died there, Merseyside police confirmed.

In a statement released tonight, Everton FC said: “Everyone at Everton Football Club is heartbroken by the news that an employee has died following an incident at Everton’s stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
“The sentiments and condolences of everyone associated with Everton are with his family, friends and colleagues at this unimaginably unhappy time. Stadium contractor Laing O’Rourke will cooperate with Merseyside Police and the health and safety officer in their investigations. “
In its own statement, corporate structure Laing O’Rourke said: “We can verify that today, a member of our team, who worked for one of our subcontractors, was seriously injured in an incident. He was hospitalized by ambulance, where he sadly died. “
“We are shocked and saddened by today’s tragic incident and our thoughts are with the circle of family and friends of the deceased as well as our wider team.
“The police and health and protection officer are working and we have suspended work until further notice. We will cooperate fully with any upcoming investigation. “
In June, Everton FC said it would consult with fans as part of its plan to move into its new stadium midway through the 2024-25 season.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: “We can verify that a man has died following an incident at Bramley-Moore pier this afternoon. At approximately 1 p. m. , a 26-year-old man was reported to have been injured. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His relatives have been informed and an investigation is ongoing.
The victim, who allegedly suffered serious head injuries, was taken to Aintree Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. The Liverpool Echo said it understood the incident concerned “heavy machinery” but there was no precise clarification.
Inspectors from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which investigates office accidents, were photographed at the scene conducting investigations. Forensic Merseyside Police vehicles were observed at the front of the scene and an air ambulance was also called.

Everton’s new beachfront stadium is due to open next season, replacing Goodison Park. No additional main points were revealed.
