Michael Brown has said Celtic may find it more difficult to recruit the most productive players after their humiliating early departure from the Champions League.
Speaking exclusively to Russell Edge, assistant editor of Football Insider, Brown delivered his verdict after Celtic’s 2-1 defeat to Hungarian club Ferencv-rosi TC at the time of Qualification for the Champions League.
They have now not been able to qualify for the Champions League level for 3 consecutive seasons.
We all have to take on duty for that. I have to do it for the team selection. We had more than enough to win the game twice. “Pic.twitter.com/Ryb2XT3q9B
Celtic took credit for 71% of possession of the ball on Wednesday night and controlled 28 goal attempts, but can find a way to win.
The Scottish champions will now become part of the draw of the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League and the draw will take place next Tuesday.
When asked through Football Insider if Celtic dropped the subsidies, Brown said: “They will be disappointed as a club.
“The charm of Celtic and Rangers is that there is football in the Champions League.
“As far as the moving market is concerned and you are looking for your teams, that was in fact the charm and will make things more difficult.
“Your finances replace you and don’t qualify you for organizational stages. They are such massive things that we know and now they will be disappointed and will be for improvement.”
Celtic has already added West Ham striker Albian Ajeti and Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull this summer.
Lennon will now intensify his quest for Republic of Ireland captain Shane Duffy in reaction to the Champions League club’s departure, as revealed through Football Insider.
The online page revealed that the club had a seven-figure loan offer rejected through Brighton by Duffy, who favors a change to Parkhead despite interest from Premier League clubs West Ham and West Brom.
In other Celtic news, Football Insider will possibly REVEAL that the club has put its appeals on Ben Davies to upgrade Kristoffer Ajer.
