Alan Hutton has subsidized Motherwell star David Turnbull to fill the void left by Tom Rogic’s departure from Celtic.
Speaking exclusively to Russell Edge, assistant editor of Football Insider, former Rangers and Scotland defender says letting the 27-year-old go off for decent value and replacing him with the 21-year-old is a “good deal.”
As revealed through Football Insider, a 3.6 million pound offer was submitted for Qatari Rogic and Celtic to use the cash from their sale to help finance a move to Turnbull.
Since then, he has revealed that an agreement for Motherwell’s ability is approaching the finishing touch and that situations have been agreed as he undergoes extensive medical tests prior to his signature.
Hutton believes Celtic will be reluctant to let Rogic leave Parkhead, but thinks Turnbull could be a very good replacement for the Australian ace.
Hutton told Football Insider: “Overall, he’s a fantastic player. I think Celtic probably wouldn’t need to lose it, but if they need to get a decent payout for him, they bring In Turnbull, a young player who’s the same and I think he might have the same talents as him in the future. Array, become a smart computer.
“Maybe I’ll lose one and win one. Lennon might look at it and think he’s on the sidelines of the first team, so he probably won’t play too much, so excluding a marginal player, collecting flight wages and earning cash is a surely ideal situation.
“Then you can use it on whatever you want, on the computer that’s going to be in your plans. Good job.”
Rogic has not yet played for Neil Lennon this season and made 22 appearances last season after recovering from a knee injury that prevented him at the start of the campaign.
Turnbull played only twice last season after his medical examination with Celtic uncovered a knee challenge that required surgery and sabotaged his passage to Parkhead.
In other Celtic news, it will possibly be REVEALed that the Bhoys have had additional discussions about the premier league signing.
