Chelsea are starting quickly in the summer market and will seek to sell stars who are not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans as soon as possible.
Maresca needs his 2024/25 squad to be finalised before pre-season, and TEAMtalk resources say Blues administrators are working around the clock to make that happen.
With the manager keen to sign several new signings, some Chelsea stars will have to be forced to leave the club in the coming weeks.
Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that one of those who have told him that he is available for a move is goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.
A new goalkeeper is the most sensible priority for the Blues this summer and that’s why the former Brighton goalkeeper will be sacked to make room in the team and fund a deal.
Sanchez, 26, was signed through Chelsea last summer for £25m (including signings) and club members have said they believe he has the ability to become one of Europe’s most productive goalkeepers.
However, that stance changed after Maresca informed the club’s board that he needed a much bigger goalkeeper with his feet.
Maresca plays a formula that is based on a goalkeeper who is very intelligent with the ball and capable of taking care of the tension of the attackers who block him.
This has led Chelsea to intensify their search for a new goalkeeper and several are being considered.
TEAMtalk can verify that Chelsea are very fond of Filip Jorgenson, who had a strong 2023/24 season at Villarreal and “ticks all the boxes scouts are looking for”, according to our sources.
We perceive that Les Bleus have had tentative talks with the La Liga team to perceive the terms of a deal. Jorgenson has a £34m clause in his contract and several parties are interested in him.
Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is the goalkeeper Chelsea has been following for a long time.
There have been contacts between Chelsea and his entourage in relation to an imaginable transfer. The Georgia foreigner is said to be paid about the same as Jorgensen and is considered by some at the club to be the better option of the two.
Whichever is the final selection to start as the club’s new number one next season, it will oust Sanchez from the club.
TEAMtalk resources say Sanchez is attracting a lot of interest within the Premier League and his home country of Spain.
