Aston Villa has presented striker Keinan Davis with a new three-year contract, Revealing Football Insider.
Midlands giants have to keep the 22-year-old at bay rather than threatening to waste him on a loose move at the end of the season.
Villa told Football Insider that Dean Smith had given Davis the soft green for a two-year extension of his existing contract.
He revealed exclusively in April that Villa had activated an option to stay with Davis at the club for another 12 months, until the summer of 2021.
This was later shown through the Midlands giants ahead of the leader’s previous contract, which expired in June.
Villa hired Ollie Watkins for a down payment of 28 million pounds, which equates to a 33 million pound outlook.
They are also about to sign a new striker for now after Lyon accepted an offer for Bertrand Traoré of 17 million pounds plus an extra 3 million-pound perspective.
But Villa still has high hopes for Davis, who is better rated through Smith despite his lack of first-team goals.
He was unable to make a loan last season and, after a ham ham tendon injury left him out for 3 months, he became a normal starter after the blockade due to the absence of Brazilian Wesley.
Davis made 23 senior appearances last season, 4 of which started in the Premier League, but scored one goal.
Since graduating from Villa’s youth squad, the striker has played 67 games for the club and has scored 4 goals and five assists.
