Burton Albion is expected to point to Wolves striker Niall Ennis after diverting his loan to Doncaster Rovers, as football insider can reveal exclusively.
This site revealed earlier this week that the 21-year-old forward was in a position to sign up for the Soaster Ligue 1 squad on a one-season loan.
But Burton ambushed his third-tier rivals and a Wolves source told Football Insider that Ennis was about to enroll in Nigel Clough’s team before the move-in deadline at 5 p. m.
It’s going to be a big blow to Uniform One, given that Ennis spent the whole season at Doncaster.
The young striker controlled to score six goals and participate with four other assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
At Wolves, Ennis has made a senior appearance and has not yet identified with Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, the Premier League team is in negotiations to extend their contract at Molineux and has a long career at the club.
Losing his former lender is a severe blow to manager Darren Moore, who is willing to take over Ennis for a moment a year after a strong 2020/21 crusade for the club.
The rovers won two, tied and lost in their first four matches, as they were eliminated from the League Cup through Blackburn Rovers.
Instead, Burton is in Ligue 1, 12 adrift from Doncaster, 11th.
