Marseille is a main move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, Football Insider reports.
French bigwisers have rekindled their interest in the Colombian foreigner 24 years after pointing to him last year.
A recruiting source told Football Insider that Marseille was in a position to verify the Rangers’ determination to hold on to Morelos after a conceivable move towards their Ligue 1 rivals, Lille, was wiped out.
This comes after this revealed last week that AC Milan was also willing to exploit the striker’s preference to play for a leading European club after three goal-filled years in Glasgow.
Marseille was in the past connected to a 16 million pound hit for Morelos, while Lille discussed paying Light Blues 17 million pounds for its assets.
Speaking at the end of July, Lille’s president Gerard Lopez made it clear that the Rangers striker was a key target and that discussions had taken place.
But last week the French national team signed their number one target with Canadian striker Jonathan David of 27 million pounds.
The Rangers paved the way for Morelos’ departure by signing two new strikers this month to Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten.
Morelos continued to lead the ranger line and his first four games of the season with the SPL.
Steven Gerrard has decided on him as a striker for Roofe and Itten in their last two league games, against St Johnstone and Livingston.
Morelos has not been able to score in 11 of the Last 12 Rangers games, placing the net with his double opposite to St Mirren this month.
But he has scored 79 goals in 142 games for the Glasgow Giants following his fourth season at the club.
In other news, the Rangers have reached a new deal of more than 10 million pounds.
