GMT’s start of 20:00 gives the Reds a chance to win tactics again after a disappointing losing streak over the festive period.
Our Boxing Day defeat to Wolves included a red card for captain Bruno Fernandes and a fifth caution of the crusade for in-form midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Both are suspended for the attack at Old Trafford.
Before one night under the lights, we played our United States predictions along Mutv Mavens Wes Brown and Danny Webber. Join us to choose the XI beginner of Ruben, Score, the first scorer and his boy in the game, and have the possibility of winning some wonderful awards if he does.
The key debate around Amorim’s starting line-up revolves around how United will start without the ever-present Fernandes, who will be absent in the league for the first time this season. In fact, the only game he’s missed in all competitions was our 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League, when Noussair Mazraoui started in his place.
So, who comes in for Fernandes and Ugarte? Well, two-time UEFA Champions League winner Wes Brown expects Christian Eriksen to start, with a youthful front three. Check out his full predictions below before making your own…
Wes Brown’s predictions
Wes predicts Matthijs de Ligt will return to the line-up, after missing games at Tottenham Hotspur and home games with AFC Bournemouth due to illness. The Dutchman is an unused substitute for Wolves. This would mean that Harry Maguire would fall to the bench.
MUTV’s skilful hopes that Amad will do wonderful things, and for a clever reason. He scored one goal or one decisive pass in nine games this season and his vital urgency has earned him great rewards since the arrival of Ruben Amorim in November as head coach.
Amad’s wife will be Alejandro Garnacho, according to Wes, betting on Joshua Zirkzee, who could sign for Rasmus Hojlund’s eleven. The two strikers have replaced each other in Rubén’s eleven in recent weeks.

DANNY WEBBER’S PREDICTIONS
Danny Webber believes Morim will continue with the same back three as with Wolves, with Casemiro replacing the suspended Ugarte. He supports Rasmus Hojlund to keep his place in the starting eleven, ahead of Zirkzee, and predicts that the Danish striker will be our first scorer, with Garnacho and Amad behind him.

Amorim in the captain
Ruben Amorim told “You’ll have to wait for the game and see the Captain” when asked who would take the armband for the suspended Fernanos.
When Bruno last missed a game, unlike Fenerbahce, Lisandro Martinez led the team, former club captain Harry Maguire is obviously another strong option.
“What am I thinking about Harry? He looks good, he is aimed at paintings and not what other people say,” said Amorim.
“He has no excuses, even if he had some tough moments. I think in that department he is an example. He is there to play, to help the team and he’s trying to do that.”
DALOT ON NEWCASTLE
“They are complicated games, they are a very intense team, very physical as well,” Dalot told the Newcastle club media, a team he has faced more than any other.
“Whenever we play against them, we will have to be in a position to play a game of maximum intensity, so that is what I hope.
“I expect a high-intensity player profile, a real Premier League game. I hope we can be in our so we can beat them.

Our says. . . 2-1 United
Harry Robinson: “It has been a year of ups and downs for United. In fact, it seems a difficult time now, with 3 losses in a row, but I enjoyed 3 of the great moments of my life as an United Assistant in 2024. The mere mention of the The FA Cup final and the surrounding celebrations make me smile, and Amad’s winners against Liverpool (in March) and Manchester City, just fifteen days ago, did the same.
“All of this is to say, I’d love United to end this year on a deserved high because, for all those ups and downs, it has included some truly special moments. It’s a trophy-winning year, for the men, women and the youth teams in both the Boys’ and Girls’ academies. With that in mind, I’m predicting United to win 2-1. Newcastle are a good team who have shown their quality at Old Trafford on occasion, but we’ve had the better of them more often than not. With Fernandes and Ugarte suspended, there will be players fighting to show Amorim that they should start more often. We need that fight and I think we’ll see it tonight.”
