Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Fabinho’s opposition to FC Midtjylland is “the last thing we needed” when he joined Virgil Van Dijk on the bench.

Fabinho ended up with what looked like a ham tendon and had to be replaced by young Rhys Williams.

Despite the injury, Liverpool controlled to win 2-0 at Anfield.

Diogo Jota continued his form by completing a wonderful Liverpool shot. Trent Alexander-Arnold played a fast double with Xherdan Shaqiri before moving on to Jota.

The foreign Portuguese escaped smoothly from the scoreboard to score his third goal of the season.

Then Mohamed Salah stumbled into the box in overtime through defender Paulinho. The forward broke the resulting penalty to give Klopp’s men all 3 points.

Speaking of Fabinho’s injury, Klopp told reporters: “Exactly the last thing we needed. I don’t know, he felt his hamstrings so he’s not well. He said he couldn’t have played yet he didn’t run, so it doesn’t help. “We’ll see, we’ll have to do a scan and see, but obviously it’s not good».

When asked about overall performance, he said, “It’s a complicated night. It’s like a wedding, there are smart, bad moments. It’s not a bad time, but it’s a delicate moment. At 100%, we have to do it,” to stay in combination and fight harder and that’s what the boys did tonight.

“Losing Fabinho in the first half . . . it’s a surprise to the team because now we have to deal with this injury.
