Tottenham Hotspur will soon secure an improved offer for Emerson Royal, while a new arrival at the club has received high praise.
Tottenham manager Angel Postecoglou says Emerson has no desires as he wants a new right-back who can compete and cover for Pedro Porro. Despite Emerson’s disappointing spell in north London, the 25-year-old has become a concrete target for Italian giants AC. Milan.
Emerson recently showed that Tottenham and Milan are in talks about an imaginable move that would give Postecoglou a timely touch for their summer kitty.
Emerson has already reached an agreement with Milan and is expected to sign a five-year contract if the Rossoneri complete his signing.
On Sunday it became known that Milan had started the auction for the full-back. The exact price of his offer has not been revealed, it has been rejected through Tottenham.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano now has an update on Emerson’s situation. He says Milan is close to launching a “new offer” for Emerson as they plan to close the deal next week.
Romano adds that Milan’s new proposal will be worth more than €15m (£13m), meaning the former will offer less than that sum.
However, it remains to be seen whether this new offer will be enough to reach an agreement. Spurs are hoping for €25m (£21m), while Milan insist they will go over the €20m (£17m) mark.
It is clear that in the coming days there will be more talks, since lately the two clubs are very far apart in their respective valuations.
With Emerson set to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, England teen star Archie Gray has joined Spurs.
Gray prefers to play in central midfield, although he could reposition Emerson in Postecoglou’s team competing with Porro for a starting position at right back.
Asked about Gray in a recent interview, former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson said: “[The] defensive zone is a domain that Tottenham needed to strengthen.
“He [Gray] plays as a right-back, he plays in midfield, he is a flexible footballer and he will be a wonderful asset for Tottenham.
“He is the one who is for the future, he is the one who comes in and sits on the bench, he is the one who comes in and out on loan.
“He arrives and will be involved in the starting eleven, the starting team. There’s no doubt he’ll be in and around this starting XI.
“Once he gets the chance, Spurs fans will see what a player he is.
“It’s a very, very smart deal from Tottenham to gain a young ability at the age he is now and the ability he has to play in other positions. “
