Fabrizio Romano confirms Tottenham star ‘could leave’ with £50m upgrade expected

Fabrizio Romano has shown that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a genuine candidate to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, while reports claim that Spurs are a gamble on a successor who loves Ange Postecoglou.

Hojbjerg was paid £15m before the signings when he arrived at Tottenham via Jose Mourinho in 2020. The Danish foreigner is a guaranteed starter with Mourinho and Antonio Conte. However, its inventory has dwindled since Ange Postecoglou took over.

Hojbjerg has appeared in 27 of Tottenham’s 28 Premier League games this season. But with Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr the favourites, the vast majority of Hojbjerg’s games have been bench appearances.

The 28-year-old has one season left on his contract this summer. Therefore, and given its reduced importance in North London, a sale is possible.

Regarding X, playmaking guru Fabrizio Romano has shown that Hojbjerg is a real suitor to leave the club this summer.

In addition, Hojbjerg recently changed direction to a new agency, which turns out to be a harbinger of a move.

“Pierre-Emile Højbjerg could leave Spurs this summer as the existing contract expires in June 2025.

“Højbjerg recently signed with USG Italy as a new company to evaluate everything ahead of the summer moving window. “

Hojbjerg was on Fulham’s radar last summer as they desperately sought to find a replacement for Joao Palhinha. Palhinha was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich at the time and even made it to Germany, but that resolution backfired.

On the other hand, Hojbjerg turned down the opportunity to sign for Lyon in January and has continuously forged links with the most sensible teams in Serie A.

The fact that Tottenham are willing to sign a new central midfielder adds to the possibility of Hojbjerg leaving Spurs this summer.

Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is their number one target and TEAMtalk has learned that the Blues will gain advantages if Gallagher doesn’t sign a new deal. Like Hojbjerg, Gallagher’s existing contract expires after the 2024/25 season.

Chelsea are valuing Gallagher at £50m, according to Football Insider, Spurs will play hard and open the auction with an effort of between £30m and £40m.

The fact that Chelsea have their backs to the wall due to Gallagher’s contractual prestige convinces Tottenham that it is possible to reach an agreement in the market, much to Postecoglou’s delight.

Explaining Postecoglou’s infatuation with Gallagher, our moving expert, Fraser Gillan, explained the role Gallagher would take on in North London.

Gallagher would be deployed as the number six and rival Bissouma and Sarr in the more internal midfield roles.

However, Gallagher’s versatility will also secure him more complex opportunities at James Maddison’s position if he fails.
