It’s a pretty busy off-season, thanks to COVID-19, to say the least.
Dozens of players, adding a league 8 to the New England Patriots, opted not to participate in the season due to the ongoing pandemic. In fact, several big names will sit down in 2020, putting groups and football owners in a complicated situation.
With this in mind, there are several fancy homeowners who should remember that they chose not to participate in the season.
Here are the biggest ones:
1. Devin Funchess (WR) – Green Bay Packers The Loss of Funchess can become a major loss for Packers and Fantasy owners. Funchess, who signed with Green Bay on April 2, one of the team’s only veteran catchers before retiring from the season.
Fortunately, Davonte Adams will still be available. But expect players like Allen Lazar and Malik Turner to fill the gaps for now.
2. Travis Benjamin (WR) – San Francisco 49ers Niners enthusiasts will also have to wait at least a year to see their new receiver in action. However, their numbers have declined in recent seasons, possibly not as great a loss for homeowners in posh homes as for San Francisco, which has a young reception hub.
3. Matt LaCosse (TE) – New England Patriots The Pats are already running out at first, so wasting LaCosse during the season is not ideal. New England will likely have to rely on young players like Devin Asiasi, Ryan Izzo, Jake Burt and Dalton Keene to do the homework in LaCosse’s absence. So beware of the elegant owners.
4. Allen Hurns (WR) – Miami Dolphins In fact, this is not the guy that Dolphins or fantasy homeowners were looking for to watch the season go by. Although his numbers have fallen in recent seasons, Hurns is about to play a bigger role in the team in 2020. But fancy house owners will have to look elsewhere this time.
5. Josh Doctson (WR) – The debut of the JetsDoctson of New York with the Jets will have to wait a while, much to the chagrin of some fantasy homeowners. At its best, he can save more than 500 yards and is smart for at least a handful of season-consistent touchdowns. However, their talent will not be available in 2020, leaving homeowners with one less reception option.
