What I love to do with Breakouts 3.0, which is my last Breakouts edition of the season, is highlight some of my favorite players that I plan to target across leagues. Obviously I’m going to write all those guys, but I can try. And one wide receiver I plan to hit if necessary is Calvin Ridley.
Ridley ticks many of the boxes I look for in an escape receiver.
That last point is something Ridley once talked about in a story on the Falcons team website, when he said “This year I’m going to be in the top flight.” I love to hear that.
And his quarterback, Matt Ryan, sees it coming for Ridley. Ryan is a guest on Fantasy Football Today on CBS Sports HQ and said Ridley looks “at ease” as he approaches his third year.
“I feel like you can see it in their frame language,” Ryan said. “His understanding of the formula is much better. His understanding of how to talk to me and what I expect from him and where I expect him to be; it’s on another level. released internally, mentally, he is not thinking about things, his athleticism shows. And it is so good. I think it will be this year. He’s going to be a guy who will have a lot of one-on-one opportunities. -Head thanks to your supporting cast, and will make other people pay for it. “
Feed. Me. More. Ridley is ready to go off, and I consider him a top-10 Fantasy receiver in all leagues. He’s someone I plan to draft in the early part of Round 3.
Now, Julio Jones is still the No. 1 receiver for the Falcons, but Ridley is closing the gap. We saw that last season when Mohamed Sanu was traded to New England prior to Week 8.
In the six games following Sanu’s departure, Ridley averaged 17.1 PPR issues consistent with the game. During the same period, Jones averaged only 14.4 PPR numbers. Again, I say Ridley is bigger than Jones. But this six-game pattern length shows you that Ridley can be a beast.
And in all six games, Ridley averaged 8.2 goals consistent with the game, 5.7 receptions, 82.2 yards and scored three touchdowns. During a full season, 91 receptions, 1,315 yards and 8 touchdowns. Sign me up for that all day.
The Falcons have led the NFL in passing attempts in 2020 and are expected to once again be close to the most sensitive in this category. Hayden Hurst is expected to update Austin Hooper, and Todd Gurley is a Devonta Freeman update. But the Falcons’ two most sensitive players are Jones and Ridley, and Ridley is heading into a career year.
He’s someone I plan to write a lot about. And you do the same.
