RB Leipzig have signed Alexander Sorloth from Crystal Palace for 22 million euros (20. 5 million pounds).
The Leipzig club of the Bundesliga has agreed to pay Trabzonspor 10 million euros to finish Sorloth’s transfer at the Palace, which will last until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
The Premier League team will also get 10 million euros (9. 3 million pounds) in advance, with another 2 million euros (1. 9 million pounds) payable in add-ons to be distributed between Palace and Trabzonspor.
The 24-year-old Norwegian Sorloth has put his pen on paper on a five-year contract at Red Bull Arena after scoring 24 goals in 34 Super Lig appearances last season.
Despite Hwang Hee-chang’s arrival from Salzburg, Julian Nagelsmann remained ready to show his offensive characteristics after seeing Timo Werner leave for Chelsea and Patrik Schick signing for Bayer Leverkusen after his transfer to Rome.
“After the initial discussions, it became temporarily transparent to me that I was looking to play for RB Leipzig,” Sorloth said.
“The awesome club in Liga last season, and even more so in the Champions League.
“Attack football played through Julian Nagelsmann suits me. I look forward to challenging in combination in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League. “
CEO Oliver Mintzlaff added: “We are very happy with the signing of Alexander Sorloth. The great fortune of this complex move was only imaginable thanks to the clever cooperation between our team, which I would like to expressly thank.
“Alexander not only has the perfect compatibility with our philosophy, however, he is a difficult center forward who can also play open, which is the missing piece on our team to make enigmatic plans this season. “
Prior to 2019-20, Sorloth’s most productive dates back to the league season with thirteen goals in 26 appearances for Bodo / Glimt at the 2015 Eliteserien.
Spells with Groningen, Midtjylland, Palace, and Gent preceded their passage to Trabzon for the year.
