Lutsharel Geertruida has hinted he could stay with Feyenoord manager Arne Slot at Liverpool after joining the club through former player Dirk Kuyt.
Geertruida is a flexible 23-year-old, capable of playing as a centre-back, full-back and midfielder.
He has already made seven appearances for the Netherlands and has made almost two hundred appearances for Feyenoord since joining the youth team in 2012.
Liverpool have agreed a payment package with Feyenoord for Slot to move to Anfield and replace Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season, leading to widespread speculation that he will bring in Eredivisie players with him.
Geertruida did little to quell the hypothesis by posting a photo on his Snapchat from the stands of the London stadium on Saturday, where Liverpool were playing West Ham.
The Dutchman has one year left on his contract with Feyenoord and has been valued at around £25m for a move this summer.
According to The Times, Slot also plans to bring several members of his Feyenoord squad to Anfield this summer, adding his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, and performance manager, Ruben Peeters. Slot also needs to bring in his Feyenoord analyst Etienne Reijnen. .
Geertruida had been linked in the past with a move to Liverpool through former Reds and Feyenoord striker Kuyt, who rates him highly, as well as team-mate Orkun Kokcu.
“I’m a Feyenoord player and they’re doing really well at the moment,” Kuyt told the Liverpool Echo earlier this month. “They have a very intelligent player in Arne Slot and some of the younger players like Orkun Kokcu and Lutsharel Geertruida. They’re knocking on the door and playing really well.
“It may not be long until the interest of the most productive European groups is there for them. I hope Liverpool are interested in the Feyenoord players and I’m an example, it can work. “
“When I was an under-19 coach, Kokcu and Geertruida were part of my team at the time. You know who the talented players are and you can see that they will have a wonderful future.
