Some Feyenoord fans have hit out at the Celtic Park atmosphere as a supporters group shared their experience of Champions League matchday six.
The travelling Dutch fans who infiltrated the home club were disappointed along with the fans of the classic visiting team. Brendan Rodgers’ side claimed their first win in the top flight of the European table in 15 attempts thanks to goals from Luis Palma and Gustaf. Lagerbielke won 2-1. It was a no-win night in terms of progression, as both groups finished fourth and third respectively before kick-off, but it was still a night to savour for the maximum number of spectators.
Tell that to some Dutch fans who thought very little of Celtic’s famed home atmosphere in Europe. Feyenoord fan group FR12 – who are followed by 67k on X- shared a lengthy story of the night at Parkhead, claiming “At the stadium, the police cause chaos by trying to create small groups between horses. If some of the tickets have a poorly printed QR code, causing the gates to not work, the party is complete. Bad organisation.”
Parkhead’s atmosphere was also in the firing line alongside the eventual end result. It’s claimed: “The “You’ll Never Walk Alone” was impressive, but otherwise it is a really tame stadium with an atmosphere like SC Heerenveen.”
Other Feyenoord enthusiasts agreed with the atmosphere. One of them said, “Haha, wonderful man, just the Celtic environment wasn’t wonderful. Great stadium, they keep their main stand intact, that’s why it’s low, etc. “
Another said: “A bit like a cross between PSV and FC Twente stadiums, so it has nothing to do with the posts and other heights. But it’s big. Then the posts in the second ring and the huge one in the corner. “
One fan reserved his anger against the team. ” The enthusiasts who travelled with us yesterday were the bright spot,” he added.
