Red Bull has been fined €20,000 after Isack Hadjar’s near-accident with Lando Norris in FP1 at Silverstone.
The young Frenchman in Sergio Perez’s car for FP1 almost caused a first crash in the consultation when he couldn’t get off the line in front of Norris.
Hadjar was one of four drivers to complete one of the two rookie sessions that teams have to contest each season and until then he had enjoyed an uneventful session.
But it almost turned sour when Hadjar slowly exited Turn 2 and Norris was forced to brake hard to avoid contact.
The incident was investigated by stewards after consultation and Garry Connelly, Matthew Selley, Enrique Bernoldi and Ian Watson officially warned the driver and fined Red Bull €20,000.
In their reasoning, the stewards stated that “the driver did not warn in a timely and appropriate manner of the technique of car 4 [of Norris].
The driver of car four was forced to brake sharply and leave the track to avoid a collision. The Car 37 team admitted that it had not given the mandatory advice to its driver.

Red Bull is not the only one to have been fined by stewards for an embarrassing incident with Aston Martin, which won €15,000 for Lance Stroll’s blocking of Charles Leclerc.
Like Red Bull, Aston admitted that it had not provided good enough and timely radio data to Stroll about Leclerc’s whereabouts, but the team fined less than Red Bull after stewards deemed it a less serious incident.
Stroll, like Hadjar, earned a formal reprimand.
