Filip Jorgensen admits that “it’s fun” to be linked to a move to Chelsea

Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen described the connection with Chelsea as “fun”.

Les Bleus will prioritise the signing of a new goalkeeper after the appointment of Enzo Maresca.

Former Leicester City manager Maresca signed a five-year contract at Stamford Bridge on Monday and will have a say in signings made this summer, but will have no say in the club’s hiring plans.

Burnley’s James Trafford is among the targets being considered, while reports claim Chelsea have contacted Jorgensen’s representatives about an imaginable move.

The 22-year-old is a product of Villarreal’s academy and played for Denmark in the U21 category after switching allegiances from Sweden, his home country.

Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic were Chelsea’s first-choice goalkeeper Mauricio Pochettino last season, but signing a new option there is reportedly on the club’s agenda.

His compatriot Kepa Arrizabalaga spent the season on loan at Real Madrid, but the Champions League winners are unlikely to strike a permanent deal.

Thibaut Courtois, signed by Chelsea in 2018, has recovered from the long-term injury that led Los Blancos to sign for Kepa and Ukrainian foreigner Andriy Lunin has been inspired as a substitute option in the Spanish capital.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Jorgensen said: “It’s fun. It shows that I did it well and that I did it well.

“That is to say [about his future].

“I just need to get better every day and be as productive as possible. There is no exact plan. If something smart happens, we can communicate it and see what’s most productive for me, for Villarreal and for each and every one of those involved. “.

Chelsea are already finalising their first new signing of the summer, with Tosin Adarabioyo turning to a medical striker from a loose move to Fulham after the Blues kidnapped Newcastle to sign the defender.
