Fabrizio Romano said on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur was in a position to discontinue Gedson Fernandes’ loan deal.
The well-known and renowned journalist, who works as an expert for The Guardian and Sky Sports, stated on social media that Turin had opened talks to point out Benfica’s 22-year-old.
Romano said the Spurs were in a position to allow the young man to return to his parent club, Benfica, so he could sign for Torino on loan until the end of the season, adding that next week a final resolution will be made.
Gianlucadimarzio. com reported last night that Turin had started talks with Fernandes, and Romano’s update suggests that an agreement may be reached soon.
Disappointing loan at Tottenham Hotspur
Fernandes joined Tottenham on an 18-month contract with Benfica in January 2020.
Much was expected of the young man at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the striker did not do much.
According to WhoScored, the 22-year-old has played once each in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup so far this season, the moment he is part of the 2019-20 campaign, and has played seven replacement matches in the Premier League.
