Lautaro Martinez’s goal gave Inter Milan a narrow win over Fiorentina and returned them to the top of Serie A.

The Argentine striker scored a near-post header from Kristjan Asllani’s corner in the first half.

Fiorentina were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes remaining after Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer collided with M’Bala Nzola, but Nicolas Gonzalez’s feeble effort made the save.

Inter are one point ahead of second-placed Juventus.

A super flying save from Sommer denied Giacomo Bonaventura in the 33rd minute, while Nzola’s fierce strike was well blocked just before the break.

Luca Ranieri also headed wide a Rolando Mandragora corner in the closing stages as La Viola were defeated.

Meanwhile, defending champion Napoli played to a goalless draw with Lazio to move ninth in the table, four points adrift of the Champions League spots.
